contd..Mind's trauma

The mind can be traumatized in many ways- all depending on the person's situation and events for causing the traumas. For me, my mind started getting disturbed just by watching my husband's health deteriorate day by day and then month by month and later by his numerous falls.

It wasn't easy for me and harder for him.

We were living in an apartment that was on the 3rd floor, which had no elevator. It would take a toil on his legs to simply climb up after his visits to the doctors or for his physiotherapy sessions. He kept insisting that he was going to get worse and insisted on shifting homes.

Finally my vacation started and we began looking at different apartments. But first, I had to look for some good and caring maids; so that there would be someone to look after him once I resumed work. So home hunting and maid hunting were going on side by side.

We finally managed to get 2 caring maids who helped us alot. One of them helped to take husband to the therapy center but she came only on every alternate days. She even went with husband to Hangzhou to see another doctor for a special massaging therapy. I’m truly grateful to her and for her immense sense of caring and kindness. I probably turned a blind eye to the pain my husband was going through but not her. OK! Maybe I didn't want to face the truth and my mind was going into a fight and freeze mode. And the other maid, was equally nice to clean my home and keep it tidy and neat. As the days went by, they both started cooking lunch for husband and even learnt some fast making sandwiches from him.

School was about to begin and I was about to begin a new position at work. And finally we managed to get another apartment in the same complex. This made our shifting easy but it took over a month to finally shift in. After getting it cleaned, husband was so fussy, that he wanted many changes in the new place. This drove me crazy! After the uncountable drives up and down, we got into our new place.

It was easier for husband now to visit the therapy center but it was limited as rains started and that made him mobility difficult. Yes, this new place still had stairs, but only 8 steps. Our biggest mistake was to take this place, coz those 8 steps became difficult for him to climb up. We should have taken a place with absolutely no steps.

To be contd..
