Graduation Has Arrived
This is a special time for everyone. This is the time for all teenagers to finally get their freedom. This is the time for the teenagers to finally move out. And this is the time, for the teenagers to finally say, we are entering into adulthood.
But are they really ready for adulthood? Are we as parents ready for this change to happen? Are we as parents ready to let go?
Many might say, yes, and some may even say, we are relieved, and some may even say, no. Every parent is different, just as every child is different.
But this isn't about them. It's about, where, and when and how did time fly by soooooo quickly. It's amazing, when we usually say, one-day you will be in a university. Well, that time has FINALLY ARRIVED. Did we have to say this, over and over again. It sometimes feels that, time was listening to you and has finally fulfilled your request by arriving. And now you have no choice but to send your child or children off to their own ways of life.
For some, this may be a blessing in disguise. But for some, their lives have been revolving their only child and now to let go, its going to be a difficult thing to do.
Watching the graduation ceremony, was good, sentimental, emotional, short and sweet, and a time to reflect about yourself as a parent. Was I a good parent? Did I do a good job? Was I too obsessed with my child that I didn't give him/her freedom or space? Gosh! And so many questions can keep coming up in our minds. But today isn't the time to think about this. Today is the time to JUST CELEBRATE and be in the MOMENT with your child and all the other classmates of him/hers.
Let's be in the moment and just observe and feel all these feelings and thoughts going through our minds, BUT to not let these thoughts spoil the moment of watching our children go up the pandemonium to collect that certificate and their first formal hand shake of their lives..
A hearty hearty congratulations to my dearest child for living through with me, as her mom. If you could live with me, you will do good in your future and most brightest coming years, as well.
